The hoist is a special machine dedicated to various water conservancy and hydropower projects. It controls the lifting and lowering of large and medium‑sized cast iron gates and steel gates to open or close openings. It can precisely control the gate opening, thereby effectively regulating water flow, water level, and flow rate. It is widely used in various hydraulic structures such as dams, hydropower stations, ship locks, pump stations, etc.

 

The hoist mainly consists of an electric motor, a reducer, a drum, wire ropes, sheave blocks, and a frame. The motor drives the drum, and the wire ropes are wound or unwound to lift or lower the gate. Its advantages are strong versatility and large lifting height, making it suitable for most large and medium‑sized hydraulic gates.

 

To ensure safety, the hoist is usually equipped with a load limiter, a height indicator, upper and lower limit switches, etc., to prevent overload or over‑travel accidents.

 

Main application scenarios

 

Hydropower generation: Controlling the emergency gate and service gate at the turbine intake to regulate the flow into the turbine, thereby controlling power output; during flood discharge, operating the spillway gate to ensure dam safety.

 

Navigation: In ship locks, the hoist operates the filling/emptying valves and lock chamber gates to enable vessel passage; in irrigation channels, the hoist operates division gates to distribute water as needed.

 

Water environment and ecology: In wastewater treatment plants, river ecological water replenishment projects, and urban landscape waterways, the hoist controls sluice gates to regulate flow and water level.

 

Multi‑purpose projects: In large inter‑basin water transfer or multi‑purpose water complexes, the same set of hoists and gates may serve multiple functions – flood control, water supply, power generation, ecology, etc. – achieving efficient allocation of water resources.
